Consulting
organisational development and institutional strengthening
Organisations in the development aid sector find themselves ofthe in a fast changing environment. Set goals have to be changed, plans have to be modified.

At the same time, nescessary changes have to be understood and agreed on by the people in the field and in the headquarter and at the same time fit in the quite often tight donor framework. An outside view can be of a big help.

Target group

  • nationale and international organisations in the development aid sector as well as their partners

Main Topics

  • organisational development and institutional strengthening
  • strategic planning
  • project panning
  • monitoring
  • evaluation

Approach

The consultancy process is highly dependent on the right question. Quite often the right question is not obvious because of the amount of problems which need to be solved

Therefore in the beginning, time will be spend in defining the right BASIC QUESTION. After the basic question is formulated and understood by everybody to develop strategies for a solution is much easier.

Trained at MDF in Ede/Nederland I follow the integrated organisation Model or IOM. The IOM is an integrated model to emphasise the interrelationships of the different elements of an organisation. As any model, the IOM is a simplification of a complex reality but it helps to understand the different aspects and how they all influence each other.

Through a participatory approach (interviews, workshops etc.) the expertise of the different stakeholders will be taken into account and the problem/s and challenges become visible and understandable for everybody involved in the process. From this point onwards it is much easier to develop strategies for the future which will work in a sustainable way.

Besides the IOM model, many other tools can be used depending on the question and the need.

The whole approach is based on a systemic understanding, that the problem-owner is also the owner of the solution and responsible for the process.

To support this process with ideas and experience is my understanding of consulting.
